Masks

My fascination for African tribal artforms, especially intricate mask designs, started when I was quite young. My sculptures have been inspired by studying hundreds of tribal masks over the years and showcase a variety of cultural stylistic characteristics. My masks are created by kneading concrete, decorated with pastels and sealed for outdoor suitability. The masks shown below are not reproductions of original designs and not carved out of wood, they are artistic representations and purely intended for decorative use. A tribal mask is only recognized as indigenous if it is used for cultural rituals within the various tribes, a mask used for sale does not count as an original.
